Due to the current situation with the covid-19 pandemic we are closely following guidelines from the Scottish government and horse Scotland and therefore have certain restrictions in place to help keep you safe and to help prevent the virus spreading.
This all sounds very strict and formal but I can assure you that it all runs well in practice and extra precautions carried out are not too far from our usual procedures, it just sounds more formal written out.
Obviously depending on any change in circumstances we will be following government guidelines and this may all be subject to change. Please be assured that we have put everything we can in place to make a safe environment for our customers, staff and local community and we have been given the visit Scotland approval and are GOOD TO GO!
No one will be allowed on site without prior booking so we can monitor numbers and keep customers and staff safe.
On booking we ask you to please
fill in a registration form online.
Where possible all
payments to be made online.
Where possible please
bring your own equipment including gloves. Hats and gloves are still available
from us and will be washed and disinfected between uses. It would be
very useful if you know your head size (circumference in cm) so we can estimate
hat sizes without having to try too many on.
Please wash and
sanitise your hands on arrival.
Please keep a 2m
distance with staff and other customers.
Please note all our
indoor spaces are currently prohibited including our toilet.
If you feel unwell or
are experiencing any covid symptoms please cancel your trek and stay at home
and seek medical advice. Also please do not attend if you or someone in
your household is self isolating.
Staff will wear ppe
including facemasks to greet you and whilst around the stable area. Once riders
are mounted and the trek is in process we will remove the face masks as long as
we are able to keep the 2m distance.
Lead rein riders -We
are currently advised that as the 2m distance has been relaxed for children under
12 then we are able to take children 11 and under on a lead rein . However if parents feel confident enough then we can allow parents to
either lead the ponies or act as side walkers to give the child any contact
needed. Full training will be given for this before the trek and full
supervision during the trek.
When you arrive the
ponies will be tied up ready for the trek. All tack will have been disinfected
and cleaned after previous use. Staff will prepare the ponies and tack up using
gloves and sanitiser. If you wish you can prepare the pony and tack up yourself
and this will be checked by staff before mounting.
Where possible riders
will be asked to mount and adjust stirrups themselves. Supervision will be
given to do this by staff at a 2m distance and a member of family can help.
If you have any questions please ask.
PLEASE NOTE ALL OUR PONIES ARE WELL SCHOOLED AND HAVE CALM TEMPERAMENTS. YOU WILL BE MATCHED WITH A PONY TO SUIT YOUR EXPERIENCE AND CAPABILITIES. HOWEVER ALL ANIMALS HAVE MINDS OF THEIR OWN AND CAN BECOME UNPREDICTABLE AT TIMES.
HORSE RIDING IS A HIGH RISK SPORT AND YOU DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK
THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT YOU MAY FALL OFF AND BE INJURED, YOU MUST ACCEPT THAT RISK.
PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS BEFORE MOUNTING.
